Winter/Spring 2024: Group Lessons

Highland Stables has English style riding programs available to youths and adults through OCCE and NCPRD. Participants should be aged 8 to 18 years. Registration is open up to the first day of the class depending on available space. Early registration is encouraged. Riding helmets are provided, however you are required to bring your own flat-soled boots with 1 inch heal, and a signed waiver before you can ride. A warm viewing room is available for visitors to watch students during cooler weather.

The fall, winter and spring sessions are group based and designed for those with no prior experience to beginner/beginner 2 level. Jumping classes, if offered, expect the rider to be able to walk, trot, canter, tack and untack your horse without aid. The lessons are an hour to and hour and a half, once per week for four weeks with several dates available. You will learn about:

  • Being comfortable on and around horses
  • Saddling the horse, grooming & basic care
  • Maintaining your riding equipment

Available dates and times for either program are listed below:
